Thinking of You…and missing you, too!

I made my card below using the Play Date Cafe Challenge #136 colors.

Here’s the card! I made it for a friend of mine who just moved. Not only am I thinking of her, but missing her even more! She makes the most BEAUTIFUL jewelery. You can find it here: Wexford Jewelers.

I used a Hero Arts stamp for the background and sentiment. The butterfly is Studio Calico, and I just colored it with Distress Stains. The flourish is Kaisercraft.

Thanks for looking and make sure you stop by the Play Date Cafe to take part in the challenge!!

Wedding Card – Girly and Gutsy Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger

I love the Tuesday Trigger: Girly and Gutsy that Moxie Fab World has for this week. I want that room, even though those totally aren’t the colors that I would personally decorate my house with! Ok, so maybe I’d like to visit someone who has decorated a room like that. It’s still so pretty to look at.

My favorite part of the photo was the yellow peaking through the chairs, and so I mostly focused on that in my own card. I used a Papertrey ink embossing plate to emboss the black paper. I used a spellbinders die to cut out the flower and then added lots of glitter around the edges of the flower. I embossed the word love and then put it in a small Melissa Frances Frame. I also embossed the word Congrats on the top right corner since it’s going to be a wedding card for some really sweet friends of mine. I also embossed a HA butterfly in platinum onto vellum and then I used mustard seed distress ink and colored in the unembellished part on top and then also colored the butterfly underneath. I added some yellow lace and there you have it!

Flowery Thank You – Play Date Cafe Challenge 95

I participated in this week’s Play Date Cafe Challenge 95.

I don’t stamp often, but I’m trying to get better acquainted with it. I stamped the front panel with flowers from HA/Basic Grey Flowers in Colorbox Ink (I love how vibrant it is). I used a Sizzix die to make the butterfly. I don’t know if you can see it but the body of the butterfly (peeking through the wings) is navy. I stamped the sentiment and added pearls. Super simple.

Embellish Magazine Coloring Color Trends Challenge

I joined in on the challenge this week at Embellish Magazine: Coloring Color Trends Challenge. The color palette was very summery. I know lots of different states are nearing the end of summer, but here is AZ it’ll seem like summer is neverending by the time winter comes (yep, that’s right we only have two seasons here).

Part of the challenge was to use the coloring technique. On my card I used big brush markers from Faber-Castell to “color” the grass stamp and the flower stamp before I stamped my paper. I tried to use the yellow maker for the pitcher, but it wasn’t the right shade of yellow to me so I used mustard see distress ink for the pitcher. The stamps are from a couple different sets from Papertrey Ink. I also used the envelope pattern stamp and antique engravings stamps from Hero Arts. I wrapped some Papertrey Ink twine around the panel with the stamped image and then added a piece of torn corrugated paper that I got from some Papertrey Ink packaging. The pink patterned paper is from K & Co.

paisley happy birthday – play date cafe #94

I love the colors that play date cafe is using this week for their 94th challenge so much so that I had to play along! Take a look!

For my card I stamped the front panel in all three colors with a paisley Tim Holtz Stamper’s Anonymous stamp and popped up a couple of the paislies. I matted the stamped panel on a piece of MME polka dotted paper and behind that is a piece of Papertrey Ink paper. It’s my first time using a doily, well part of a doily, that I smeared with a teal ink pad from colorbox and placed in the upper corner. On the opposite corner I added some beautiful fragile brown leaves and a wooden button from crate paper with a Papertrey Ink twine bow. I added a Happy Birthday sentiment on some of the polka dotted paper to finish it off.

Hope you enjoyed! Make sure you take a gander at the other beauties at Play Date Cafe! be blessed, kiesa

Embellish Magazine Patterned Paper Color Trends

I couldn’t resist the Embellish Magazine Patterned Paper Color Trends challenge that they have going on right now! I love the color palette and the accompanying pictures that showcase the colors. Oh, so, pretty!!!!

I kept my card really simple. All of the paper is patterned paper, although the patterns are pretty subtle, except for the strip the punched butterflies are on. That is a piece of crinkled Wassau paper from Target. I used part of a Tim Holtz Stamper’s Anonymous stamp to stamp two of the corners and embossed them. The letter stickers are from Basic Grey.

Summer Card Camp Week 4 Card #1

I’m so bummed that this is the last week of Summer Card Camp. I hope that they’ll do it again next year! It was awesome! There was so much talent and inspiration from everyone that was involved.

Here are this week’s colors:

I don’t use blue a whole lot, so utilizing three shades of blue was not an easy task for me. I ended up with way more white on my card than I typically have. I used a green and blue Big Brush marker to color a damask Tim Holtz stamp and spritzed the stamp with water before stamping it twice on water color paper. I die cut grunge paper with a Sizzix butterfly and then covered the entire butterfly with a shimmery bluish perfect pearls. I made a small green tag that is white embossed with the word “danke”. The little tag is held in place by a K & Co sequined paper clip.

I sure enjoyed the summer card camp and am saddened that it’s almost over. Be blessed, kiesa

Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger and CPS 123

I am so in love with the Perty & Flirty Tuesday Trigger photo this week from Moxie Fab World.

I would love to own that coat! When I first saw this picture I immediately thought of paper in the new crate paper pad I just got. I also thought of bees! I personally am deathly afraid of bees, but when I saw the shiny black buttons on the yellow coat, I just knew I wanted bees on my card. I think I’ll stick with bee images rather than the real thing!

I also paired the inspiration photo with a layout from Card Patterns Sketch 123.

Here is my card:

Patterned paper is from Crate Paper and My Mind’s Eye. I made a scalloped border in black and added light pink lace trim and blue wrinkly ribbon above it. I stamped a flower from Flourishes in red brick distress ink on paper rubbed with spun sugar distress ink. I sprinkled red glitter around the edges of the flower. Then I added the bees as the finishing touch.

Thanks for looking! Have a great weekend. Be blessed, kiesa

Finger Inking Good-Moxie Fab World Stamp It Challenge

Moxie Fab World is having an awesome challenge all about stamping!

I’m still new to stamping, but I wanted to give it a go.
I used the colors from Summer Card Camp:

I stamped the bottom panel with a stamp from Skipping Stones Design and I embossed it in white. I die cut the bees and then used a technique that Jennifer McGuire taught at the Summer Card Camp called finger inking. I stamped my distress inks onto my kraft sheet, spritzed some water on them, and then used my finger tips to apply the ink to the butterflies. Once they were dry I stamped a Penny Black paisley stamp in frost white from colorbox. I stamped a hero arts sentiment in ginger. Then finished with some gems.

I must confess that I love to use these colors and have a tendency to use brown in most of my card!
